He has no canon birthday! Because of this, I spent some time reading through the zodiac signs, and I think the most fitting would be Libra. I'll be choosing October 16th specifically because after browsing through this site I liked the description that came with it best. (Most importantly was this quote which matches Zelos' personality quite well: Behind your confident and beaming exterior is a sense of loneliness. You try reaching out to others but often feel that you don't quite make the connection, or else others just don't understand you. You offer help and material resources to friends only to find that after a while this is all they may really want.)

Libra traits match up with Zelos' personality the most, ranging from narcissism to a desire for love and balance, indecisiveness (which compares to his moral issues as a character) and so on. I can explain in more depth if necessary!

Edit: This was my revision since more depth was requested!

Using the Zodion Libra page I'll try to expand as much as I can on it! MAYBE A LITTLE TOO MUCH SORRY...

Pretty much all of Libra matches up to Zelos' personality. Going through the "Strengths" first, sincerity may not seem to apply since he lies more often than not, but looking at Zelos' actions, he can be very sincere. Things like going to see Lloyd during important moments of his route (like at Flanoir) are big moments of trust, or pushing Sheena through a portal to save her from being left behind showing how much he cares despite constantly teasing her. Being refined is pretty much a requirement of the Chosen. He knows how to act in formal occassions: how to eat the right way, how to properly ask a lady to dance, the right way to move through a crowd, all sorts of stuff which he has even had a skit or two referencing, even if the party is constantly surprised by learning this. He's a noble.

Then, "romantic"-- Zelos is an expert in this area. From wooing noble women to making a name for himself and treating women right, romance is something he plays with a lot. In that he goes around acting like he's some great prince-like savior, ready to sweep away every woman and save the world! Not only that, but he's also romantic in the more dated sense of the word! He idealizes human emotion in ways that are very tied to his core character. It's the reason why he speaks like he does, testing all the party members to see who really would value his friendship true and through, and works into his entire relationship and development with Lloyd, the main character. He's constantly searching for those pure emotions and trying to draw them out of people.

Cooperative, communicative, good negotiator, and very strong beliefs are the last half of the strengths list and I think can all be grouped into an area of Zelos' personality. Firstly, he likes to keep all of his options open which leads him to be very cooperative. With everyone. As in, he's on 3 different sides in the game working as a traitor, but works along with each of them until he properly decides which is the best way to go. It's a key point of his character to work along and avoid conflict as long as he can. Next, as the Chosen, he deals a lot with the politics of things and speaking with the King or the Pope to organize and plan and make things easier on others. He knows who to speak to and when, and what to say in order to cooperate and make things run smoothly. There are various cases of this in game, as it's a core point about his character. He often helps the party get away with things because of his ability to sweet talk the King, or talks to a shop keeper in a certain way to make him stop trying to scam them, etc. At the end of the game he's even still working while everyone else is relaxing, making sure Sheena gets a good role in the new government and that things can be easier for his friends and the rest of the world. As for the very strong beliefs part of it, Zelos does have them. He thinks the Chosen system is horrible, that Mithos' entire way of dealing with things is wrong. He sees the way Kratos treats Lloyd and hates it, noting the way he 'jerks Lloyd around'. He'll speak out against things he doesn't like (the Kratos one is a great example since he brings it up to him at any chance he can), or if speaking isn't a wise option, he'll act out in subtle ways, but he'll definitely be heard if he disagrees with something. And if there's something he believes should happen? He's out there and working to make it happen, which is basically his whole line of plot with working to make life better for his sister. He definitely speaks out against the Pope and his title, as well, constantly calling him out on abusing his power and scheming, much to the Pope's frustration.

Moving on to the "weaknesses", he can definitely be sulky. When he disagrees with something and it's not going his way but there's nothing he can do to stop it, sulking is his main way of reacting. For example, there's a point in the game where the main bad guy joins the party. Zelos knows it's him but, being a traitor on all three sides, he can't really say something and get away with it. He does strongly disapprove of the methods though, and spends a long time with his arms crossed in the back of the group frowning or commenting on "how can they believe this guy?" after everyone's left. He also uses his sulking to see who can really notice (falling back on that romantic idea of emotions), testing friendships.

Along with that, two of his strongest weak points in personality are being fearful and indolent. As the Chosen, he has a lot of responsibility and lives a life in constant fear of not being able to live up to that. Because of this fear, he gets in the mood of not wanting to even bother trying about it, and so sort of sits in his misery instead of actually dealing with it. Constantly being afraid but not having the motivation to fix it is one thing really hammered down as a character point throughout the game for him.

Flirtatiousness is an obvious one, the one thing he automatically knew how to do from childhood and often leans on to make all the bad things sort of go away. (Which never works long term.) He relies on it in most situations to make things easier on him. Narcissism is another part of his mask and goes hand in hand with flirtatiousness. He's constantly referring to himself as the Great Zelos Wilder, and even gets a title "Narcissist". Though he actually hates himself, it still applies because not only does he shallowly pretend to love himself, but he only thinks of his own thoughts instead of actually paying attention to what's around him. All his things 'for the better of everyone else' are actually just his thoughts, not him considering theirs at all. Overbearing is a word plenty of people would use to describe him. He's constantly in people's business or pushing them a certain direction to make things the way he wants-- and in that way he's manipulative, as well. On top of that, well he's a double traitor, working on 3 different sides at once and taking all the information, using it to manpulate all the sides. So yes, very manipulative.

Being on 3 sides also shows his indecisiveness. Zelos is constantly indecisive, not sure how to deal with things or what to do, and so keeps his options open as long as he can. It isn't until near the end of the game that he finally chooses one of the three sides to stick to, and even then he seems wildly uncertain about his decision, having to grow confident in it over time and thanks to the words of Lloyd and the others.

Moving on to the attributes as well, many are basically saying a Libra would be classy (personal appearance, good manners, self-control, diplomacy, sophistication, etc), which Zelos is very much used to, as well. He's second in power to the King and attends various parties and social gatherings. He knows how to make people love him, even if it is shallowly, and he knows how people work. He keeps up his appearance and uses it to his advantage. He's constantly involved in politics and knows how to work things to his advantage. He's great at being social.

Continuing on, there's "relationships" which are the thing he cares about the most. He's constantly testing them, seeing if anyone truly "trusts" him or if they like him for shallow reasons, reaching out for friendships and so on. Tact... may not seem to apply to him at first glance, but in fact he actually has quite a bit of it and grows angry or annoyed when the party seems to not have any. He'll scold/tease Sheena or make fun of Lloyd if they say anything without thinking about it, trying to remind them to use their brains a little. Arguments are something he causes all of the time, and he can hold himself quite well in them so long as they aren't targeted at his main character faults. Most people can't see those, though, so he has an easy time winning arguments in game or getting his points across. (The Pope, Sheena, or even his bad ending making the point to Lloyd that he was never trusted, so he shouldn't lie and say he was.) Rational thought is abundant with Zelos, and he's often the character to keep the party moving at times when everyone else isn't sure where to go or what to do.

And it just wouldn't be fair if I left out Libra's color being pink. Zelos' outfit is pink and he clearly has no problem wearing it out in public or showing off in it. It doesn't affect his masculinity at all. So right down to that, Libra seems overall very fitting for Zelos, whereas the other signs only seemed to match in obscure areas that couldn't really connect to core traits as often or as consistently as this!

Tattoo: On his chest, situated around his cruxis crystal.
Suitability: N/A
Power:
In canon, Zelos is both a magic swordsman and the Chosen. As the Chosen he was able to transform into an angel, something the group doesn't find out about him until a scene shortly after the canon point I'm taking him from. I believe it's the most important part of his character, though, so while his "magic" abilities (elemental spells like fireball, first aid, etc) will be taken away upon arriving at Zodion, I'd like for his one kept power to be his cruxis crystal allowing him to be an angel.

That's the gem on his chest which he switches out for his exsphere after visiting Seles. It's like a power up crystal but more special because it allows him to be an angel. So this would mean he can have orange semi transparent wings appear on his back or disappear at will (and flying? but not long distances, and he never uses them for that in game unlike Colette) as well as a couple of light spell attacks. He only has 3 spells associated with his angel abilities: Judgment (which is the most connected and basic attack), Divine Judgment and Shining Bind. The latter two are "special" attacks that he can't just use whenever he wants.

If he can only have one of the abilities, I think it would make most sense for him to keep Judgment! If there's a problem with this power in general I don't mind working with it to power him down/keep things fair, so just let me know.

Personality:
If asked to describe Zelos, most anyone who knew him would tell you he's flirtatious, immature and obnoxiously cheerful. Some might even dare to say stupid, narcissistic and selfish. That's the accurate description of the mask he puts on and the personality puts forth, but beneath that Zelos is a much more complicated character.

To start with, Zelos is incredibly perceptive. This is something nodded to in various ways throughout the game. He somehow recognizes Regal after meeting him only once when he was 6, taking in clues like his speech and knowledge of the Toize Valley Mine to discover he truly is the man he remembers. Often times Zelos is shown recognizing that something is off and being baffled that the party doesn't seem to either care or notice these things (like the example with Regal, or having Mithos as a companion for some time, etc). He was also the only one who knew how to truly help Sheena when she lost Corrine, realizing that speaking too much about it was doing more harm than good. It shows he's surprisingly sensitive. This sensitive nature is something most people don't get to see, and when it appears most people aren't even inclined to believe it as such. Acting stupid all of the time makes it so that when he genuinely is suggesting something for the better of someone, it's not usually caught on by the others. Or if it is, it's too late to say anything about it. He cares deeply about his little sister, for example, though if anyone asks about her he'll claim that she hates him and joke about how he's "well loved, aren't I?" Any questions about whether he cares about her would be met with indifference or a flat out no, clear lies to anyone who actually got to know him (or paid attention, really.)

Details are very important to him, so he'll leave small clues to what he's doing or thinking just to see who will catch on, usually disappointing himself in the process. He tests all of his relationships with both his mask and these subtle clues to see if the person in question has a mere passing interest in him or truly cares.

Zelos also has a deep self loathing for both himself and his title as Chosen. Due to having such a tragic history, Zelos has grown tired and bitter of trying to deal with things like this, causing him to make mistakes and "run away" at any chance he can. This is the reason for his being on multiple sides at once, betraying everyone and acting selfishly, as well as putting forth such a narcissistic act. He's also very guarded because of this, refusing to get too close to people until he tests them (as mentioned earlier), and even then it takes time for him to open up. Even Sheena, who he obviously has a long and rather close relationship with (in terms of friendship) doesn't know much about Zelos' true self at all.

This "mask" that he's developed over the years is what he's truly seen as by people who can't see past it. Lloyd is the only one who manages to see past it, even if he stumbles from now and then and gets close but not quite there. Zelos takes to his naive and instant sort of reactions like "I don't think it matters that you're the Chosen," feeling like Lloyd doesn't treat him any differently and also sees him for who he is. Not what his title is. The actual change that causes Zelos to die in one ending instead of run away with Colette and Pronyma is one line change from Lloyd. One line implies that Lloyd still trusts him, while the other implies that he used to and no longer does. Hearing the latter is what he fears the most, and losing all hope at that moment, he fights them in order to die. Another instance of taking in details as important!

To go more in depth about what sort of person he acts like, he's known throughout the world (and soon enough, both worlds) as a flirt. He has charm, and with that he's able to gain items from any lady he speaks to. This charm along with his power as Chosen has helped him take advantage of many people over the years, and so that's something he's used to doing and also hates about himself. He acts stupid and goofy on purpose, loudly exclaiming things in a teasing manner when the group is trying to focus, or flirting with the girls of the party at inappropriate times. Because of this, when he does say something serious, most people write it off as Zelos being an idiot again and ignore him. Basically? He can get away with a lot.

He also uses this sort of personality to avoid talking about himself or facing problems directly. When he's upset, he's usually even more obnoxious than usual, and therefore even more not himself. Most people don't pick up on this (Sheena can, but it seems to be after the fact and while looking back on things, most of the time, and Lloyd can at certain times but others he misses completely), and Zelos ends up doing rather selfless things without anyone knowing. He may act like a spazz and seem really rude, but it's only when the group stops to look back and really pay attention that they realize Zelos was doing them a favor, even at his own expense.

At the end of the game, if he's still alive it's shown in a scene that his greatest flaw is his desire to run from everything. In another cut scene, too, he tells Lloyd he wishes everything would just disappear. This lack of self worth is so great it's really eaten up his will to live and any hope that things can get better, so while he jokes around and laughs and makes a fool of himself, he's really suffering on the inside. All the while, he tries to help those he likes, giving them sound advice to lead them to better paths than the one he's on (like his various attempts to try and push Sheena away from himself and to Lloyd, since they're both people he care about and he feels poisonous to them, and he hopes Sheena will realize there are other people she can like/care for than himself), and providing the magic words: whatever will be, will be.

✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry:
[By now, Zelos has thoroughly investigated the network, growing used to the phone rather easily after all the advanced things he's had to work with back in Tethe'alla or even with Cruxis. He's been here long enough to know that his usual blatantly obnoxious first entry wouldn't be the smartest thing.

After all, he would be relying on his charm here, right? And without the common knowledge of his status, there was little else to rely on than his practiced way of being charming. ...Which he could be, when he wanted to.

So this is hardly a usual introduction for "the Great Zelos Wilder," but who needs to know that he's being careful?]

Yo! [There's a grin as the video feed turns on and Zelos winks, gesturing a free hand in a quick salute. He drops it just as quickly.] Looks like we'll all be getting to know each other, huh? I guess that means I should introduce myself.

The name's Zelos Wilder! It's not the best situation, but we should stick together, right? I saw how the people from here were looking at us. [He practically beams now. Oh so friendly!]

So let's be friends, mmkay? ♥

"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
He had been thinking. Lying in bed, arms behind his head and wondering if he really should gamble that Lloyd would talk to him. It's not like him at all, sticking his neck out for weak things like this. It was right at that thought where he closed his eyes that the change happened, and he was rather startled when he opened them to find he was no longer in the Flanoir inn. In fact, he was standing, on a strange altar of sorts.

It didn't make much sense, and the letter was almost comical all things considered. Really. Gods? As if he'd believe that. There might be Twelve of them but all that he determined through this letter was that they had power. That they were just like that brat back home...

And so maybe this whole thing wasn't so surprising after all. Although, Zelos hardly expected to be surrounded such a strange mirror. He jumps a little but then observes more closely, frowning and squinting as he reaches a hand to the front of his chest. Really, right around his cruxis crystal? As if he wasn't cursed enough being the chosen at home, now he's supposed to believe he's chosen to be here?

"Heh... Figures." His voice keeps up the mask, laughing at the irony, but his face is pretty dark in comparison as he lowers his hand and the strange water (or whatever it was) melts away.

Worship, huh...

Using the Zodion Libra page I'll try to expand as much as I can on it! MAYBE A LITTLE TOO MUCH SORRY...

The "strengths" match up decently well (though admittedly less well than the weaknesses do), so I'll cover the ones that make large points in his personality section. Firstly, "romantic"-- Zelos is an expert in this area. From wooing noble women to making a name for himself and treating women right, romance is something he plays with a lot. In that he goes around acting like he's some great prince-like savior, ready to sweep away every woman and save the world! Of course this is a large factor of his mask, which is how he deals with things, and not his core personality. But he's also romantic in the more dated sense of the word! He idealizes human emotion in ways that are very tied to his core character. It's the reason why he speaks like he does, testing all the party members to see who really would value his friendship true and through, and works into his entire relationship and development with Lloyd, the main character.

Cooperative, communicative, good negotiator, and very strong beliefs are the last half of the strengths list and I think can all be grouped into an area of Zelos' personality. The "weaknesses" or flaws are what match up best, and I think from Zelos' personality section, that makes the most sense. His personality is full of flaws and while he does have good points, they're growing and needing a lot of work, really. In a sense he's let his weaker parts take a hold of him and control his life, which goes with the "fearful" and even "indolent" traits! He hates his life, and feels like a constant bother to everyone, thinking the world would be better off without him. However, he's afraid to die and he's too lazy to do anything about making himself better most of the time. Unless there's a factor that would make someone important to him feel better, he's extremely unwilling to act on anything and even runs away from problems so he doesn't have to deal with them. Of course, this causes more problems...

Flirtatious is an obvious one, the one thing he automatically knew how to do from childhood and often leans on to make all the bad things sort of go away. (Which never works long term.) Narcissistic is another part of his mask and goes hand in hand with flirtatious. He's constantly referring to himself as the Great Zelos Wilder, and even gets a title "Narcissist".
